It felt great. I haven’t gone for maybe two weeks, but I‘ve finally come to a decision on how I would go about my health and fitness journey. As promised I haven’t stepped on the scale or measured myself. I‘ll be using MyFitnessPal to track what I‘m eating and my exercise. I know as long as I‘m active and eating properly, I‘ll see results.
My right hand is still sore, but not nearly as bad as two weeks ago. Unfortunately, I won’t be able to lift heavy weights. For now, it’ll be cardio and lower body exercises along with occasional lightweight upper body exercises.
I spent the morning at my storage unit, organizing and clearing out some junk, with the help of a friend. It’s the type of unit that is on the second floor with no elevator and no AC. After three hours of lifting, moving, unpacking and repacking, I felt thoroughly warmed up for the gym and I dragged my friend along.
I was beyond exhausted, all I managed was an hour on the elliptical, but even with just that, I felt like I was making a good first step. At the gym, we were toying with the idea of running a 5k. I use to go for a run every Sunday morning at my local park. It’s something that I enjoy, and I could use to track my progress.
So my goal is to be a part of at least 5 running events this year and to cut down my time with each run. I see loads of them going on in my local area. The first race will most likely be at the end of July or beginning of August. Most of the ones I see cost about $25 if I catch them early enough and hopefully one day I can afford an adventure race or 5/10k obstacle course race. Either way, I‘ll update when the time comes.
